Spicy Tuna Hand Rolls – Blackwater Style! – From Catch to the Kitchen

For those of you who are lucky enough to live in beautiful Southern California, you are already aware that spring time is amongst us.  So to help brighten up our day, due to all the madness that has been going on around us, we decided to get back into the kitchen for a second installment of our blog segment entitled, ‘From Catch to the Kitchen’!

Luckily enough our line development and R & D team were just off the water from a field testing trip boasting some fine catches!  Using a combination for our Shockleader, Braided lines, and some sheer strength, we were in for a great lunch!

Our head chef here at Team Blackwater thought nothing could be better than to make some spicy tuna hand rolls with these fresh catches.  Spicy Tuna Hand Rolls – Blackwater Style it is!!

Below you will find a few simple step process on how to create your very own version of our Spicy Tuna Hand Rolls.  And as always, be sure to shoot some pics of your own creations, we will be sure to tweet them as we get em’.

What you will need:

(1)  Mayo

(1) Tuna or Tuna Bellies

(1) Tobiko

(1) Green Onions

(1) Avocado

(1) Sesame Oil

(1) Sriracha Chilli Paste

(1) Wasabi

(1) Sushi Rice Vinegar

(1) Cooked Japanese White Rice

(1)  Nori Paper

(1) Cucumber

(1) Soy Sauce

Step One:  For 4-6 servings total, our chef recommends using at least 2 filet’s of tuna.   Cut your tuna filet’s into small chunks, or our chef recommends scraping the meat with a spoon.  See picture below.

Step Two:  Make 2 cups of your Japanese white rice.  Once done cooking place the rice into a bowl and let it cool.  After cooled, add 2 tablespoons of sushi rice vinegar.  See picture below.

Step Three:  Create your spicy tuna mix!  First add 1/4 cup of mayo to your bowl.  Next, add 1-2 teaspoons of sriracha chili paste to taste.  Be careful, it’s spicy!  Next, add 1 teaspoon of sesame oil.  Following that, throw in a handful chopped green onions as well as 1/2 container of fresh Tobiko.  Lastly, place the tuna into the bowl and mix accordingly.   See picture below.

Step Four:  Thinly slice your avocado’s and cucumbers to add to your roll.

Step Five:  Get out the Nori!  Now that all your materials are made, it is time to assemble your rolls!  First spread a thin layer of rice encompassing the entire Nori.  Next, you want to layer in the spicy tuna mix!  Be sure to not overdo as it will be too tough to roll up.  Lastly, add in the vegetables and your set to eat!  See pictures below.
